On site investigations of the lighthouse took place during the summer and fall of 2008. The National Park Service Southeast Regional Office contract with Joseph K. Oppermann to prepare this Historical Structure Report with a structural assessment/carrying-capacity analysis, a code compliance analysis with stair-loading recommendations, the testing of certain building materials and the preparation of a budget for repairs.
