Lily and Lawrence are on the voyage of a lifetime.
Lily is pregnant, travelling with her husband, her maid and her doctor so that she can have her baby back in her home country, the United States, near to her beloved family. But her husband Henry has been faithless and unkind and soon she finds out her family aren't expecting her after all. Is she a passenger or a prisoner?
Lawrence is the only passenger on board who knows that he will not disembark in New York. In an effort to outrun the grief he felt at the untimely death of his beloved wife, Cissy, he has decided to end his life.
Can Lawrence find purpose in helping Lily, and can she in return save him from himself?

Notă biografică
Araminta Hall has worked as a writer, journalist and teacher. Her first novel, Everything & Nothing, was published in 2011 and became a Richard & Judy read that year. Her second, Dot, was published in 2013, and her third, Our Kind of Cruelty, in 2018.
She has taught creative writing for many years at a variety of places, including New Writing South in Brighton, where she lives with her husband and three children.

I loved Hidden Depths. Immersive, suspenseful and humane, this is a novel to savour.
Hidden Depths is that rare thing - an utterly compelling pageturner with real literary merit. Araminta Hall gives fresh insight into the Titanic story with an historical novel that uses her family's real life experiences to inspire characters whose emotions and crises feel utterly immersive and contemporary. My favourite of Hall's novels - and that's saying something!
I loved Hidden Depths. Gorgeously written, evocative and compelling, this is a powerful and suspenseful novel about a woman's voice finally being heard. Set on the Titanic, this is a must read next year.
