Recenzii

“With this book, Gene Tunny has done a valuable service to the broad community of academic and professional economists interested in the intricacies of budgeting and fiscal policy. In the last fifteen years, fiscal policy has played a major role in dealing with macroeconomic instability worldwide. Still, economists are far from having a consensus view on many policy aspects: is the fiscal multiplier positive and greater than one? Does public debt harm long-term economic growth? Why do so many countries borrow above and beyond what is sustainable? These, and several more, questions are discussed in this book. Gene Tunny does a remarkable job at presenting his analysis in a way that is both rigorous and accessible to a broad audience. Not everyone will agree with everything  Gene writes, but everyone will agree that this book is well worth a (careful) read.”
Fabrizio Carmignani, Head of School and Dean’s School of Business, Law, Humanities and Pathways at the University of Southern Queensland

“With great clarity and readability, Government Budget Analysis: Principles For Policy weaves together theoretical foundations and practical applicability to provide a highly informative, balanced and timely handbook on the guiding principles and practice of government budgeting.
While canvassing well-established practices and schools of thought over history, the book takes a contemporary and forward-looking perspective to consider the emerging directions and challenges for government finances in the future, such as the rising importance of climate-sensitive and gender-responsive budgeting.
Its comprehensive scope and accessibility will make it a valuable addition to the bookshelves of a wide spectrum of readers, including public officials and students of public finance.”
Leonora Risse, Associate Professor in Economics, and Course Convenor of Managing Government Finances, University of Canberra
