Get a Grip
Autor Louis Parkinson, Joel Robertsonen Limba Engleză Hardback – 8 dec 2026
In Get a Grip, climbing coach Louis Parkinson and psychotherapist Joel Robertson draw on their years of experience in coaching and therapy to explore eleven of the most common psychological challenges that climbers face. From self-worth and body image, to mindfulness, fear, relationships and the critical inner voice, they offer a thoughtful and practical guide to understanding what's happening beneath the surface.
Rather than presenting a rigid formula for success or a perfect mindset to aspire to, Get a Grip encourages curiosity, reflection and self-compassion. Using first-hand accounts, ideas, discussion and practical exercises, you are invited to explore your own emotional landscape and discover new ways of approaching both climbing and life.
Whether you're projecting your hardest route, rebuilding confidence after a setback or simply trying to enjoy climbing more fully, Get a Grip offers a path towards greater resilience, freedom, connection and joy - on and off the wall.

Notă biografică
Louis has been climbing for 20 years, coaching professionally for 10, and running Catalyst Climbing Ltd. for seven. He has built a global reputation as one of climbing's foremost authorities on performance mindset and addressing psychological challenges, with a platform of over 147,000 subscribers on YouTube and 157,000 followers on Instagram.
Before finding climbing, he had mostly engaged with sports like rugby and hockey, where being relatively short and of a wiry build were seen by coaches and teachers to be weaknesses. Slowly but surely, the feeling grew that sports weren't for him, and he spent more time pursuing solo, creative, and non-physical activities like painting, reading, and video games.
Encountering climbing at the age of 13 was the start of a profound shift in Louis' sense of self. He quickly became obsessed with the sport, and by the age of 20 had become a member of the GB climbing team, competing at the 2015 Climbing World Championships and accruing substantial international competition experience over the following years.
Now with over a decade of professional coaching under his belt, he has also been Founder and Managing Director at Catalyst Climbing Ltd. for the last seven years. It's an initiative aimed at creating more opportunities for climbing coaches and making the sport more accessible to students. Catalyst boasts a team of 20 coaches and is recognised worldwide, having coached thousands of students, ranging from those as young as five to individuals in their 50s and 60s, and occasionally much older! Many athletes on the GB Junior Climbing Team are proud Catalyst students.
In addition to his coaching expertise, Louis has cultivated significant marketing experience, having established one of the most successful climbing channels on YouTube, which has attracted almost 150,000 subscribers and amassed more than 16 million views and 2.5 million unique viewers in just two years. His influence extends to Instagram, where he maintains a global reach with 157,000 highly engaged followers.
Additionally, Louis is adept at leveraging these platforms for marketing initiatives and possesses an extensive professional network of high-profile climbers. This network will be utilised for promoting the book through guest appearances, direct partnerships, and more, further enhancing his ability to connect with the book's target audience.
