Set in the near distant future, 21-year-old Leo Maquari is a skeptic living in a nation that now accepts Prometheus as its major deity. His mother's death leads him to blame the very deity he doesn't believe in, and thrusts him into a world he's not even sure is real.
With the help of his dead grandfather, his best friend Anastasia, and a 90-year-old Guns N' Roses song, Leo must fight his way through the Underworld against monsters, rivers of fire, and primordial gods, all in an attempt to rescue his mother from a fate she never deserved, resulting from a life that was never just.
