Upon receiving a cigar box in the mail containing five small stone animal fetishes and an obsidian knife, Tasha Graybil is suddenly confronted with her Native American ancestry, the mysterious death of her father, and a troubled past.

Tasha, a bright and introspective young woman with cerebral palsy, has managed successfully to navigate life and work in Manhattan's corporate world after breaking free from her archaeologist father and his plans.
