Notă biografică
Emilio A. Herrera obtained his D.Phil. at Oxford University, with a thesis on the behavioural ecology of the capybara. After a post-doctoral fellowship at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama, Herrera was offered a position as professor at Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela. There, he continued his research on capybaras, focusing on social behaviour, reproduction, sexual selection, parasites, and conservation. He also worked on other vertebrates such as frogs, lizards, and crocodiles. He taught courses on zoology, animal behaviour, and evolution. He always had a keen interest in the theory of evolution and its relevance to human nature and read many books and scientific papers on these topics.
