Recenzii
Review from previous edition This book should be as indispensable to students as to amateur entomologists, ecologists, and nature enthusiasts...it is to be hoped that this excellent value reference book will achieve a wide circulation.
Essential Entomology guides and inspires the entomological student, and at the same time, offers up-to-date notions about generic entomology for the more expert reader.
It's intended for those of us without a formal background who take a serious interest in the subject-in a word, dedicated amateurs. As a member of that group, I can highly recommend this book to others, for this work sits satisfyingly between the college textbooks and the many popular accounts.
...Essential Entomology is an articulate, attractive, and concise antidote to the expert's malaise of over specialisation. ...McGavin and Davranoglou have succeeded in producing a volume that skillfully straddles the awkward boundary between specialist academic text and popular science writing. I have no doubt that it will continue to be a standard authoritative textbook for many years to come.
