La de los tristes destinos is the tenth and final novel of the fourth series of Episodios Nacionales by Benito P rez Gald s. Queen Elizabeth II nears the end of her reign, and a sad fate looms. The author reviews the events which lead to the revolution, including conspiracies, exile, and political upheaval. In the end, fleeing to France, some of the main characters finally find a glimmer of hope and happiness. Once more, Gald s uses a feminine perspective to give his story greater depth.
