16-year-old diabetic, Ruby MacGregor, is probably the most conscientious, considerate and level-headed teenager in Edinburgh... So how is it that she suddenly begins experimenting with illegal substances, starts an on-line relationship with a guy 8 years her senior and steals her best friend's boyfriend? Her cyber-friend is certainly a shady character. Not only does he convince Ruby to pose for him on her webcam, there's the distinct possibility he might also be a serial killer who targets teenaged girls. How does Ruby know this? Because of the dreams she keeps experiencing: nightmares that so far have featured two young girls, Levi and Cody, who appear to have been abducted then murdered. Who are they? Where are they from? And more to the point, when her own sister's life is in peril, how much will Ruby risk to save her?
