Notă biografică

Monty Don O.B.E. is the UK's leading garden writer and broadcaster. He has been lead presenter of Gardeners' World since 2003 and since 2011 the programme has come from his own garden, Longmeadow, in Herefordshire. Monty has fronted the BBC’s coverage of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for many years and created his own Dog Garden for the 2025 show. He has authored more than 20 books including The Complete Gardener with DK.

A beauty of a book... The chapters are short and clearly marked for quick references when needed and there's an ever so handy monthly guide at the back. It's full with beautiful photographs too which I think are nearly as important as the words
This book, with its beautifully framed images from the author's own garden, is lyrical with wit and wisdom as it takes the reader through the year, offering practical and sometimes unexpected advice.
What we loved most is that it is like a conversation with Monty as he takes you through his thoughts on many aspects of gardening... highly recommended!
Down to Earth is a pleasure to dip into and would make a satisfying read on days when work in the garden has been curtailed by fading light or cold
