Was “art as a form of religion” still a viable concept at the end of the 20th century? Following two earlier volumes on the origins of the concept around 1800 and its radicalization after 1850, this third volume examines a diversity of aesthetic and religious motifs, shedding light on how “art as religion” was manifest at the dawn of the 21st century.
