Discovering Words

Autor Neepin Auger
en Limba Engleză Hardback – sep 2026
Updated board-book introduction to everyday words in English, French and Plains Cree for babies and toddlers ages 0-3.

Neepin Auger's Discovering Words pairs colourful illustrations with simple vocabulary in three languages, giving very young children an accessible first experience of English, French and Plains Cree. The durable board-book format supports pointing, repetition and shared reading as children begin linking familiar objects and concepts with spoken and printed words.

The book places Indigenous-language learning alongside two widely used Canadian languages and includes pronunciation support for adults who may be encountering Plains Cree for the first time. Its visual structure makes it possible to use the book for naming, conversation and comparison even before children are ready to read independently.

This updated edition is intended for babies and toddlers ages 0-3 and is suited to homes, libraries, early-learning programs and Indigenous-language education. It combines basic vocabulary development, visual learning and language visibility in a compact format designed for repeated use.
