Discovering Numbers

Neepin Auger's Discovering Numbers connects very early numeracy with language learning by presenting number concepts in English, French and Plains Cree. Colourful illustrations provide clear visual cues, while the durable board-book format is designed for repeated handling, pointing, counting and shared reading.

The book places Plains Cree alongside two widely used Canadian languages and includes pronunciation support for adults who may be encountering the language for the first time. Repetition allows children to associate numbers with spoken and printed words while also seeing Indigenous-language learning represented as part of ordinary early education.
