Digital Archaeological Heritage: Ontologies, Politics, Futures
Autor Monika Stobieckaen Limba Engleză Paperback – 4 feb 2027
The book advances debates on the pressing ontological, epistemological, political and ethical questions raised by digital archaeological heritage. Its central concern is the material consequences of digital practices for archaeological heritage: the ways in which such practices transform the existence, condition, location, circulation and possible futures of archaeological artefacts and sites, while simultaneously producing new objects, infrastructures and relations of power. As the first dedicated theoretical account of digital archaeological heritage, the book develops a critical vocabulary for examining these transformations. By bringing digital archaeology into dialogue with contemporary art, it exposes the limits of dominant digitization practices and proposes a model of postdigital archaeological heritage.
Digital Archaeological Heritage will be important reading for researchers and post-graduate students in archaeology, heritage studies, art history, anthropology, digital humanities and museum studies. The book is also intended for scholars from across the humanities interested in digital archaeology, digital heritage, archaeological theory, heritage politics, political studies, contemporary art, postdigital studies, postcolonial and decolonial studies. It will be also of interest for practitioners within digital archaeology and digital heritage, as well as professionals working in archaeological museums.
