Dieter Nuhr: Somewhere Else is Everywhere

Autor Dieter Nuhr Cuvânt înainte de Jürgen Wilhelm Contribuţii de Frank Matthias Kammel, Beate Reifenscheid
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 19 iun 2026
This monograph offers a glimpse into Dieter Nuhr’s quiet yet compelling view of the world.
Combining photography, painting, and drawing, artist Dieter Nuhr transforms fleeting moments into images of timeless beauty that transcend boundaries and open up new perspectives. Nuhr is interested in distinctive and often overlooked locales. From his home in Germany’s Ruhr region, his vision extends across continents and cultures. In his work, the near and the far converge, as do memory and the present moment. Landscapes and faces coalesce into quiet narratives about the act of seeing itself and the ability to discover a piece of the world no matter where you are. This volume, published to accompany a touring exhibition sponsored by the Essen-based Brost Foundation, explores the poetic power of his images.

Notă biografică

Dieter Nuhr is a visual artist. After studying art with a focus on painting, he now dedicates himself to conceptual photography. He travels the world, documenting remote and unconventional environments and transforming them into images. His photographs offer an often-melancholic perspective on the enigmatic nature of existence. Outside of his work as a visual artist, Nuhr is also one of Germany's most famous satirists.
