Cultural Studies in the Interregnum

Editat de Robert F. Carley, Anne Donlon, Beenash Jafri, Stefanie A. Jones, Laura J. Kwak, Eero Laine, Chris Alen Sula
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 16 mai 2025
The editors and contributors to Cultural Studies in the Interregnum mobilize transnational cultural studies as a tool for politically engaged intellectual critique. Alongside the work of emerging and established scholars and activists, they think through massive cultural shifts and explore the possibilities of the in-between.
Covering queer and feminist studies, critical disability studies, and critical race and ethnic studies, the essays in Cultural Studies in the Interregnum reflect on our shared political pasts and futures. Using examples ranging from media and literature to sex work, policing, and university systems, this exciting volume probes what cultural studies means in moments of social transformation.

Recenzii

“This book must be read! Cultural Studies in the Interregnum gathers as a proposal and an experiment in thinking ‘the moment’—there where the not-yet and the no-longer linger, which is also from where all im/possibilities derive. Thinking in such situations, in which lines cannot be drawn between what was and what is or between here and there, is the task awaiting those with the impetus to halt the social and ecological devastations proliferating in the global present. The essays collected here give invaluable examples of how.”Denise Ferreira da Silva, Samuel Rudin Professor in the Humanities at New York University, and author of Unpayable Debt
