Criminal Law: Law Pathways and Practice
Autor Mark Thomasen Limba Engleză Paperback – 7 apr 2027
As well as providing knowledge of all key areas of substantive law commonly taught on an undergraduate law degree, this fourth edition demonstrates how to apply legal principles using a variety of skills across different contexts. Students learn to engage critically with the subject, evaluating and considering the implications of the law in any given scenario. Crucially, the text emphasizes the dynamism of criminal law, encouraging readers to grapple with the difficult questions that academics continue to debate, while also exploring the social, economic, and political context in which the law operates.
Part of the new Law Pathways and Practice series, the book also provides an insight into the knowledge, skills, and professional conduct issues arising in the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), as well as links to procedure and practice. Boxed features highlight issues around ethics and professional conduct and links to practice. Additional features include a ‘Spotlight on SQE’, which highlights the knowledge required in preparing for the SQE, essay and problem questions designed to assist readers in their academic studies, SQE-style MCQs to test knowledge, and a raft of further reading. These features have all been developed for this new, fourth edition, along with many other changes to reflect updates to case law, legislation, practical guidance from the revised Crown Court Compendium, and legal guidance provided by the Crown Prosecution Service.
The book is essential reading for all Criminal Law students, providing them with all they need to know for an LLB or law conversion course, and for future pathways into practice.
