Creating Digital Exhibitions
Editat de Zida Wang, Morgan Joseph Hamiltonen Limba Engleză Paperback – 5 mar 2026
What makes this book unique is its multi-vocal approach to developing digital exhibitions. This book pairs theoretical frameworks of digital and virtual environments with the practical implications of producing exhibits with national and international applications. These examples include contemporary case studies focusing on inclusivity and accessibility in digital/virtual exhibitions that go beyond static pages of high-resolution object reproductions and into interactive and responsive digital engagement. This book is the first of its kind to focus on small- to mid-sized museums whose limited budgets and staff often control their ability to expand into the digital landscape. It offers projects that are scalable, which will benefit museums of all sizes.

Recenzii
The field of digital imaging has grown immensely since then and this book brings us up to date. The modern museum can learn not only how, but why to create virtual exhibits, and to consider the implications of them. I am thrilled that this book focuses on the small- to mid-sized museums with limited budgets. As one of the authors notes, visitors still value the 'real thing' more than the digital object, but the virtual exhibit can provide a deeper look into not only an object, but an entire topic.
Striking a delicate balance between theory and practice, this valuable collection will assist museums and museum workers of all types as they endeavor to design and develop digital exhibits that meet their needs and the needs of their visitors.
