Daryl Barnes published his first children's picture book in 2015 and has since continued writing poetry. He also writes about his life experiences and issues chat are important to him, such as conservation and destruction of the habitat of local birdlife around Mackay in particular and Australia in general. He currently lives in Walkerston, Queensland, Australia.
