Major Jake Thorpe, is assigned to Quang Tin Province to investigate a murder. The investigation is tangled and thwarted by Lt. Colonel King, Jake's unscrupulous new boss; by the corrupt Province Chief, Colonel Biet, and by the perplexing problems of war, and intercultural differences.
