"SF Winser has the right sort of mind for fantasy - at right-angles to reality." - Kerry Greenwood, author of the Phryne Fisher Mysteries
Sydney, Australia is an expensive city for most people. Colws and Retraive are magical creatures stuck in a modern world with very few marketable skills - they're permanently broke and always desperate. They take whatever jobs they can get. This usually means fixing annoying magical problems and getting (badly) paid for it.
Tracking down a magical-someone who is murdering the city's teenagers wasn't on their list of preferred jobs. Especially not a murderer insane enough to steal hands and paint on walls in blood. That doesn't sound safe. But with Colws owing the minotaur mob two thousand dollars and Retraive needing to cover rent, they'll do almost anything to pay those bills. Including investigating Dark Witches. Or Elven politicians. Or dragons... No. Scratch that. They'd really like to avoid dealing with dragons.
