When hedge fund owner Jay Montgomery raids his own fund, he disappears with millions belonging to his investors-including his wife Grace, his dead partner's widow, and a vengeful Russian oligarch. Long-time frenemies, Grace and widow Dana want their money back and reluctantly team up to track him through the Ozarks, Switzerland, and Monaco.
Their pursuit turns deadly when two people connected to Jay are killed. The women fear they may also have become targets after a series of fake online transactions in their names.
Tracking down a disenchanted AI pioneer in the UK confirms their suspicions: Their every move is being monitored, analyzed, and anticipated by a sophisticated AI system programmed to optimize outcomes-not protect people. But there is one thing the system cannot fully account for: the irrational, emotional, deeply human choices determined people make when everything is at stake.

She soon began writing historical fiction as well. Nineteen novels and twenty-five short stories later, she claims they'll take her out of the Windy City feet first. She has been nominated for many awards in the mystery and crime writing community and has even won a few. She has been a finalist twice for the Anthony and the Shamus; and four times for Foreword Magazine's Book of the Year. She has also been nominated for the Agatha, the Daphne, and she won the Chicago Writers Association Book of the Year in 2021. She has won the IPPY, Foreword Magazine's Indie Awards, and the Readers Choice Award multiple times. Libby was the President of Sisters in Crime in 2006. For two years she hosted "Solved," a streaming video show featuring bestselling and emerging Crime Authors. She was also the host of "Second Sunday Crime," a podcast with the Authors on the Air network. Both show series are available on YouTube.Over the years, she has developed several fiction-oriented workshops, including "Dialogue, Plot, and Setting," "How to Build Suspense", and "How to Promote in the Digital Age."
