John Cowley is an Honorary Fellow at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies at the University of London. He studies the history of carnivalesque and associated music in the English-speaking Caribbean. His work focuses on Trinidad and related musical diasporas in New York and London, as well as Martinique and, by extension, 1930s French and Cuban Antillean music in Paris.
