Bull Hunter

Autor Max Brand
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 25 iun 2020
Bull Hunter throws you straight into the old West frontier, where a man is judged by his nerve and his aim. Every trail carries a price. In this complete western novel, Max Brand delivers a hard-riding cowboy adventure story rooted in cattle ranching and range, with the constant pull of frontier justice and lawmen, outlaw pursuits and gunfights, and the uneasy rules of an American West setting. Written by Frederick Schiller Faust under his famed Max Brand byline, this is pulp western fiction at its most assured: lean scenes, swift turns, and a sense of dust-and-steel danger that keeps the stakes close. Its pace is cinematic, yet the prose stays sharp and economical, built for readers who want momentum without losing atmosphere. As a touchstone of early popular American writing, it also speaks to classic-literature collectors. Brand helped define popular western storytelling in the early twentieth century, and his work sits naturally beside a Zane Grey style western while retaining its own muscular, intimate voice. Readers who come for action will find the drive of a classic western collection; readers who come for character will find questions of honour, responsibility, and what justice costs on the frontier. Ideal for western genre fans and for Louis L'Amour western readers looking to trace the traditions of the range. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.

Notă biografică

American author Frederick Schiller Faust (May 29, 1892 - May 12, 1944) is best known for his Western novels written under the pen name Max Brand. For a collection of pulp fiction stories, he (as Max Brand) also invented the well-known fictional character of young medical intern Dr. James Kildare. Over the next several decades, his Kildare character appeared in a variety of other media, including a number of American theatrical films by Paramount Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), a radio program, two television programs, and comic books. George Owen Baxter, Evan Evans, George Evans, Peter Dawson, David Manning, John Frederick, Peter Morland, George Challis, Peter Ward, Frederick Faust, and Frederick Frost are some of the other aliases used by Faust. For Argosy magazine, Faust wrote the "Tizzo the Firebrand" series under the pen name George Challis. Taking place in Renaissance Italy, the Tizzo saga was a collection of historical swashbuckler tales starring the title hero. When Faust, Frank Gruber, and coauthor Steve Fisher were at Warner Brothers at the beginning of 1944, they frequently engaged in idle talk in the afternoons with Colonel Nee, a technical advisor dispatched from Washington.
