Building Scalable and Maintainable Python Code: Volume 1: Core Foundations and Best Practices
Autor A.N. Chapman, Stephen J. Chapmanen Limba Engleză Hardback – 18 mar 2027
Topics include Python syntax, control flow, functions, modules, data structures, file handling, testing, debugging, object-oriented programming, numerical computing with NumPy, data analysis with pandas, and data visualisation with Matplotlib. Throughout the text, modern Python development practices are introduced, including code style, documentation, unit testing, and software design principles.
Intended for self-study, undergraduate courses, and professional development, the book provides a foundation in Python programming while emphasising techniques that support the development of reliable and maintainable software. The material prepares readers for more advanced topics presented in the second volume.

Notă biografică
A. N. Chapman holds a Bachelor of Computer Science (2003) and a Master of Philosophy (2024) from the University of Adelaide. He has more than 23 years of experience as a software engineer, with experience spanning defence, commercial software development, and machine learning research. He has used Python extensively in both research and industry, from developing research prototypes to building production software for large-scale systems. His research has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications in machine learning. Drawing on both industry and academic experience, he advocates a practical approach to Python that combines the language's flexibility and productivity with the engineering discipline required to build reliable, scalable, and maintainable software. This philosophy underpins the Building Scalable and Maintainable Python Code series.
Stephen J. Chapman holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (1975) from Louisiana State University and a Master of Science in Engineering in Electrical Engineering (1979) from the University of Central Florida. He has more than four decades of experience across academia, industry, and government, including the U.S. Navy, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Shell Development Company, and major radar installations at Kwajalein Atoll. He is currently a Subject Matter Expert in radar, signal processing, and simulation with BAE Systems Australia. A Fellow of Engineers Australia and Senior Member of IEEE, he is also the author of several university textbooks on electrical machinery, Fortran, and MATLAB. He brings extensive engineering, software, and educational experience to the Building Scalable and Maintainable Python Code series.
