The c. 150 letters document the first 4 years of Humboldt's marriage, which he began in rural seclusion, before spending his final year in Jena in daily contact with Schiller. Major themes include constitutional theory, Greek studies, and aesthetics, which are discussed in letter to Gentz, F. A. Wolf, C. G. von Brinkman, and C. G. Körner, among others. This volume also includes the beginning of Humboldt's correspondence with Schiller and Goethe.
