Dorris S. Woods, Ph.D., RN, CS, is a community mental health specialist. As a former associate professor, she lectured on psychiatry/mental health in the Department of Health and Human Services, California State University at Long Beach.
Dr. Woods has conducted workshops on in-patient adolescent therapy, studies into suicide, and has written numerous articles on child abuse, child safety and adolescent suicide.
Her publications include: "A Sharp Rise in Black Teenage Suicide," "Los Angeles Sentinel and The United Methodist Review," Bellringer, 2004; "Understanding Adolescent Suicide: A Desperate Response to Psychache," "Nurse Week," 1996; "Vulnerability as a Factor in Adolescent Suicide," "Los Angeles Sentinel," 1996; "Failure to Cope: A Handbook for Suicide Prevention," 1991.
