V. V. Kolbe is an 82-year-old grandmother and great-grandmother. She grew up in a small farming town in North Dakota and is the little girl in the story. Growing up she had many animals to play with but her favorite were her little lamb and pig. Her story is true about the love between these two, and wanted children to read about them.
