Rafael Delgado (1853-1914) was a Mexican novelist who in 1896 became a member of the Academia Mexicana de la Lengua, occupying the 12th (XII) chair. His novel Angelina, first published in 1893, is a tale of romantic love set in the 1860s and, as the author states in his foreword, based on the experiences of his own youth.
