Paul 'Piglet' Middleton is the star of Channel 4's Steam Train Dairies and his first book is a collection of heartwarming stories from his incredible thirty years as custodian of the beautiful and historic North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Paul has worked with them all, from engine royalty such as The Flying Scotsman, The Mallard and The Hogwarts Express; acting royalty such as Tom Cruise and Harrison Ford; and has even made a few things happen for actual royalty - His Majesty King Charles III.

And then there are Piglet's colleagues and friends in the locomotive shed at Grosmont Station, of course, as well as the countless locals and visitors. The NYMR is a piece of Yorkshire like no other and one that, over the years, has afforded Piglet a treasure trove of tales.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs for 24 miles through some of Britain's most beautiful scenery, from Pickering up to Whitby, a stretch of gorgeous moorland that Piglet is lucky to call home. The NYMR is the world's most visited heritage railway with over 350,000 visitors annually.

Piglet is well-known for his laidback demeanour and love of "all things oily". He even has his own steam engine, Lucie, which he rescued from Belgium about a decade ago, and then restored in the locomotive shed at Grosmont, and which now runs on the NYMR line most Sundays.
