Author Robert Goldberg delivers an absorbing tale of murder and deception within a vivid Chicago setting. In this gripping narrative, the slaying of Frank Reinhart, a prominent trial lawyer, triggers a police investigation and then an indictment. In the ensuing murder trial, the victim's life is laid bare, revealing far more than his law partners might ever have imagined. And yet despite an able prosecutor--as beautiful as she is brilliant--and a wily defense attorney, there are more questions than answers.

Did Reinhart's resentful law partner, William Freund, murder him? Did his jealous wife, Adelle Reinhart, romantically linked to Freund, commit the crime? Or did one of Reinhart's unsavory business partners pull the trigger? With each new revelation, the key clue is sought while the crusty, senior trial judge is more intent on moving his caseload than on rendering justice.
