Afghan civil society is deeply upset with the disunity and detachment of Taliban groups - those who are tied to regional state agendas. This detachment has also left negative impacts on their fighting capabilities and public support. Regional states, the United States, NATO, Russia, China, Iran, and Pakistan are active stakeholders who want peace on their own terms, while the Taliban is not an independent entity to decide the future of Afghanistan, or outline long-term peace proposals.
