The new series Advances in Lectin Research reflects the rapid development of lectin research. Main topics are lectins as tools in biochemistry, histochemistry, immunology and biotechnology, and their role in cell recognition, cell isolation and in target cell killing. Furthermore, the participation of lectins in pathogenic mechanisms is discussed. Advances in Lectin Research will publish comprehensive reviews written by leading experts in the field. Supported by an international editorial board, the series editor will ensure that these reviews will be of interest not only to the "true lectinologist", but also to any scientist or technician in biology and medicine using lectins in his research.
