In Address Unknown, Susan Souza charts a childhood and young adulthood shaped by constant upheaval-new towns, and an ever-shifting sense of safety. From shelters and trailer parks to borrowed bedrooms and Navy bases, she learns early how to navigate chaos, shoulder responsibility for her siblings, and decipher the quiet dangers of a household fraying at the seams.
Amid instability, abandonment, and repeated breaches of trust, a resilient inner voice begins to emerge-carrying Susan through early encounters with sexuality, self-destructive behaviors, a near-fatal car crash, and the long search for a place where she could finally feel secure.
Told with clarity, hope, and courage, Address Unknown is the story of a girl struggling to become a woman who chooses to break the patterns she was born into-doing the hard work of building a life she could be proud of.
