"Zip" Godwin: Salinian Geoconsulting
Autor William Godwinen Limba Engleză Paperback – 23 sep 2026
Harrison "Zip" Godwin was a man of action with a flair for success on the playing field of life. He was a jack of all trades, a go-getter salesman, newspaper cartoonist, real estate entrepreneur, sportsman, and a major influence on early Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, where he was owner of the Pine Inn and the La Playa Hotel.
His success was arguably attributed to a combination of his inherent charm, support by two influential women (aunt Agnes Signor and mother Helen), and benefited from his social status. A favorable California business climate didn't hurt either.
With more than 100 vintage photos and illustrations, this detailed biography by his grandson provides an insight into the early characters and societal happenings of Carmel, hostelry competition with his brother (former mayor) Fred Godwin and the establishment of the area as a bohemian village and sports playground. In essence it places Harrison Godwin in the social, cultural, and historical context of early and mid-20th Century California.
