Time and the human concept of time shape our practical everyday lives as well as the sciences. The contributors reflect on the concept of time and time horizons in various disciplines. They include demands from philosophy for a reflection on the actioning and formative character of time, together with discussions by historians of science of the topic in the experimental sciences, and current scientific issues, e.g. the problem of the irreversibility. The volume concludes with contributions on the way time is dealt with in legal history.
