Autor Jemima Shafei-Ongu Ilustrat de Phoebe Zengen Hardback – 3 iun 2027
We cook together, Jiddo and me.
We mix zaatar with olive oil.
Our roots run old and deep.
We remember all we are.
Zaatar: Essence of Home is sweeping, original, lyrical and unforgettable. With a rich illustrated glossary, including Jiddo's unique Zaatar Puffs recipe, this is a moving story about the ways in which food and traditions can connect us to our heritage, across oceans and generations.

Notă biografică
Jemima Shafei-Ongu is a Sydney-based writer, psychologist and teacher who is passionate about picture books and their power to connect readers of all ages. Inspired by her family and community's West Asian heritage, Jemima's writing explores themes of belonging, wellbeing and inclusion; expressing diversity as a natural way of being in the world. Jemima's picture books include Aslan and Benny (illustrated by Jade Goodwin, Penguin Random House); A Lemon for Safiya (illustrated by Nisaluk Chantankom, Lothian); and Midnight Creep (illustrated by Honoka Taki, sung by Karim Nagi, Barefoot Books). She has also co-authored Shirin and Amir and the Dragon Smoke (with Liz Drummond, illustrated by Magie Khameneh, Little Steps) as part of an inclusive health messaging project with ANU. When she's not writing, Jemima enjoys watercolour painting, playing the derbakke and learning the Turkish ney. She recently became a Teta to her first grandchild. She resides on unceded Dharug country with her partner, their mini schnauzer, and whichever of their three daughters is in the country at the time.
Phoebe Zeng is a self-taught illustrator and artist born in southern China and now living on Australia's sunny west coast. She first learned to draw as a child by doodling in the margins of her school textbooks, surrounded by everything from Japanese manga and traditional Chinese art to European folk tales.¿After relocating to Australia in her early 20s, Phoebe began seriously pursuing her passion for illustration. Drawn to magical stories that move the heart, she loves combining the tactile warmth of watercolour, ink, gouache, and coloured pencils with the versatility of digital art. When not creating in her studio, you can find Phoebe playing the piano, working on craft projects, or tending to her garden.
