YARDFOWL examines the complexity of interpersonal relations and explores the workings of the culture of dependency within the political arena. The work interrogates the legacy of colonial history in Caribbean society and tests its impact on contemporary political culture. Eastmond has a skill for laying bare the individual's psyche. His characters are real people, but they are also agents of a grander plot. If we feel we know his characters it is partly because this work exudes the stuff of our traditional folk and popular culture.
