Workplace Microaggressions in a Global Context: Identity and Inclusion: Routledge Studies in Management, Organizations and Society

Autor Masaba Adneen
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 12 iun 2026
This book examines the varying unconscious biases and unwitting exclusions that permeate workplace microaggressions on a global scale. Often leaving employees feeling marginalised and undermined, ethnic minorities and immigrant employees, in particular, often bear the brunt of these subtle yet damaging behaviours. Over time, these such microaggressions can lead to stress, health issues, and reduced job satisfaction, and ultimately, undermining organisational inclusivity.
As such, Workplace Microaggressions in a Global Context: Identity and Inclusion is a timely exploration of this pervasive issue, focusing on how self-perception, agency, and relational dynamics shape the experiences of immigrant employees. The book addresses key questions such as: What are microaggressions, and how can they be identified? How do personal identity and workplace relationships influence the perception and response to these subtle acts? Drawing on in-depth qualitative research, this book illustrates how understanding these dynamics can help lower the propensity for microaggressions in diverse workplaces. Offering practical strategies for organisational leaders, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practitioners, and HR professionals, the book highlights the importance of fostering inclusive cultures through proactive communication and supportive leadership. It presents a nuanced approach to addressing microaggressions and creating equitable professional environments for all employees.
