After years of disappointment and disillusionment, Margie is now determined to make it on her own, focusing on the happiness of her two grown daughters-her only offspring still living at home. With her daughter Cadence soon leaving for college Margie decides to continue her own education, having in mind a possible literary career. Meanwhile, she becomes acquainted with six women who quickly become her best friends, and she envisions the remainder of her life as a single woman surrounded and supported by these inimitable cohorts.
