Notă biografică
Gustavo Gac-Artigas (Santiago, Chile, 1944) is a poet and theater artist. His poetry collections include Deseos / Longings / J'aimerais tant (2020), Hombre de América / Man of the Americas (2022), Un poète dans la ville / Un poeta en la ciudad (2023), as well as Confieso que escribo / I Confess that I Write, If I Had Only Known (2024), and Las cadenas de Sor Juana / Sor Juana's Fetters / Les chaînes de Sor Juana (2025). More recently, he has published Corolario / Corollary and Al filo de los días / On the Edge of Days (2026). His work, shaped by exile and political memory, engages with the pressing concerns of its time while continually exploring the act of writing itself. Reflection on the poetic word-as a space for creation, testimony, the forging of a collective voice, and ethical responsibility-constitutes one of the central strands of his poetry. Internationally recognized, his poetry has been translated into several languages, including English, French, Italian, Romanian, Korean, and Malay. He is a member of the Chilean Writers' Society (SECh), a corresponding member of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE) and the Hispanic American Academy of Fine Letters in Madrid, as well as a member of PEN Chile and PEN America. He resides in the United States.
