¿¿w¿¿nrín ¿ogbè

Autor Iyanifa Ifadisa Osunlaya Obafemi, Obafemi
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 23 sep 2026
Three times in this Odù a bond is broken, and not once by a villain. È¿ù combs one side of his head and leaves the other wild, then walks between two farmers who have been friends all their lives. One sees a man beautifully groomed. The other sees a disgrace. Both are telling the truth. All either had to do was walk round to the other side. ¿¿w¿¿nrín lends Ogbè a pot. Ogbè gives ¿¿w¿¿nrín's small son a chain for his neck. Years later they quarrel, and each asks for his own property back - a pot with a tree grown out of it, and a chain that does not come off a child. The king rules correctly twice. And before any of it, the Eníyán left heaven saying plainly they meant to trouble the world - and they made sacrifice. The humans were warned to do the same, and would not. The Odù ends not with a judgement but with a request, sung: Eníyán is the name we call the witches. You eníyán, allow human to have peace. ¿¿w¿¿nrín ¿ogbè means ¿¿w¿¿nrín ties Ogbè down. The Odù is named after the friendship it destroyed - and it is spoken in houses every day, where people still duck their heads when they hear it, because È¿ù comes to the earth with a sword. Three painted ìtàn in one volume, with the Yorùbá verse, a glossary, and a closing note on what was agreed.
