Zehara Nachash presents Voodoo and Witchcraft as sacred, life-affirming paths of healing, empowerment, and ancestral devotion. At the crossroads of Voodoo and Witchcraft stands the Voodoo Witch: a practitioner who serves as a bridge between the human and the divine.
The author draws upon the syncretic heritage of New Orleans, where West African religion, Catholic iconography, Indigenous knowledge, and European folk magic fused into something wholly its own. She traces the living tradition of the Lwa, the powerful intermediary spirits at the heart of Voodoo practice. Relationships with the Lwa cannot be built by commanding them, but through reciprocity with practices such as altar tending, libations, prayer, and daily devotion.
Detailed ritual protocols guide you through working with Papa Legba at the crossroads, invoking Erzulie Freda for self-love, scrying with La Sirène for intuitive wisdom, and performing the purifying White Bath of Damballah Wèdo. A chapter on justice magick draws on the legacy of Marie Laveau to offer court spells, reversal work, and binding rituals for restoring balance. The author uses Wiccan frameworks, such as the Wheel of the Year, circle casting, and elemental correspondences, alongside Voodoo ceremony to demonstrate how these two traditions illuminate each other.
Voodoo Witch is a call to authentic practice, service, and to the enduring power of the spirits who walk alongside us.
