One night nearly killed her. But it also set her free.

Trapped in an abusive marriage and a society that demands her silence, Namratha knows survival comes at a cost. However, when a violent encounter nearly claims both her and her daughter’s lives, fear becomes a spark—and she is done being afraid. Armed with fluent French, a background in hospitality, and a spirit too fierce to break, she boards a plane to pursue an MBA in Bordeaux, France, temporarily leaving her daughter with her parents for safety. In the midst of the bucolic vineyards and ancient châteaux, Nam discovers the magical world of wine and winemaking. As she heals and reinvents herself, she hitchhikes through the vineyards of Margaux, masters the art of wine tasting in Italy, unlocks hidden cellars beneath Paris, and witnesses high-stakes wine auctions in London. But even as her name rises in the world of winemaking, a shadow follows—her husband’s relentless grip and the battle to reunite with her daughter.

Vineyard Melody is a breathtaking tale of hope, survival and transformation—a true story of a woman who traded chains for courage, fear for passion, and a life defined by others for one written by her own hand.

Recenzii

Vineyard Melody is a harrowing story of escaping a toxic marriage, but more than that it's a powerful testament of following one’s dream, especially when that dream leads to the French wine country. Namratha Stanley is a marvelous storyteller and hers is a story we can all toast! Santé!”
“Namratha’s story is so inspirational, so real, and written from the heart. Forget about Eat, Pray, Love…and drink in the world, fight for your future. Her journey is a battle cry to all women—no matter what country they are from. She is brave, strong, and her voice sings off the page. She brings us, the reader, on an emotional ride from Bangalore to Bordeaux with many twists along the way. No spoilers... But, ultimately , her story is about a mother’s love for her daughter and doing whatever it takes to create/blend a new beautiful life…one grape at a time. Cheers! Raise a glass! To Namratha! Cheers to new starts and second chances!”
“I’ve never read a story like this one. The author’s life within a stifling marriage in India, and her literal journey to break free, is only part of the book. She arrives in Bordeaux, France, determined to start over and then send for her daughter, who’s still in India. I rooted for her as she rescued her daughter as she learned the wine business and eventually became an international success in that field. This is a wonderful read, with plenty for book clubs to discuss as well.”
“This memoir is a reminder that even in the darkest moments, a new beginning is possible—and in Namratha’s case, in the world of French wine. People love to know the story behind the wine label—but few stories are as inspiring as Namratha Stanley’s. From an abusive home to personal freedom, she uncorks a tale of strength, hope and second chances. Be sure to pour yourself a glass of Solicantus to toast her success.”
“A story of resilience and reinvention. A woman who dared to dream beyond the borders she was born into and reinvent herself in the sun-soaked vineyards of France. A gorgeously told story to sip and savour.”
“From a restrictive and abusive marriage to the enchanting world of wine and vineyards, Namratha Stanley’s memoir is a powerful story of resilience, strength, and the unbreaking love of a mother.”
“Namratha Stanley humanizes the wine industry, offering a peek into the darkest cellars, historic vineyards, and esteemed auctions. But the delight of such a life is tinged with trauma and struggle, which she ultimately, happily, triumphs through.”
“What price would you pay for love? In Vineyard Melody, Namratha Stanley searches for freedom as she grapples with her controlling husband and her in-laws’ expectations and strict rules. Trapped in traditional married life in India, her wings were clipped—but when she immerses herself in Bordeaux’s wine community, she sprouts a vibrant new set of feathers and learns how to soar on her own. Moving and inspiring, Stanley proves it’s never too late to reinvent yourself and live life on your own terms.”
“All expat stories I know are tales of radical reinvention—Nam’s more than most. She has found her voice through winemaking. Readers will admire her courage and passion.”
“I have read many memoirs of survival and transformation, but few have moved me like Vineyard Melody—a story of a mother who fled twelve years of violence in Bangalore to build a wine business in Bordeaux’s vineyards, all while separated from the daughter she was fighting to save. What strikes me most is the impossible mathematics of her sacrifice: four years apart, learning French in secret, entering a male-dominated industry as a woman of color, all to create a life worth bringing her child home to. Namratha’s voice carries both the weight of those who came before her—women who couldn't escape—and the fierce hope of those who will come after. This book is not simply a memoir—it is a gift of courage, a light for those still searching for their way forward, and a testament to the power of love and perseverance.”
