Using Narrative Constructivism in Psychotherapy: Helping Clients Rewrite Their Stories
Autor Donald Meichenbaum, Michael F. Hoyten Limba Engleză Hardback – 28 ian 2027
The stories we tell about ourselves and others shape our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This book offers guidance for therapists across diverse theoretical orientations, demonstrating how to help clients to re-story experiences of stress and trauma, anger and aggression, addiction, and loss and grief to create better stories that will help to promote healing, health, and inner peace. It provides mental health practitioners with multiple strategies to enhance clients’ recovery and resilience. Clinical examples, checklists, and a case conceptualization model support learning and practical application.
Using Narrative Constructivism in Psychotherapy will appeal to psychologists, therapists, social workers, counselors, and graduate students in these disciplines.

Recenzii
"Drawing from luminous lifetimes of scholarship and therapeutic practice, Meichenbaum and Hoyt find common ground — beyond narrative therapy and CBT — to provide insightful, innovative, and integrated portrayals of the development of disorders — grief, anger, addiction — along with usefully detailed accounts of the pivotal place of narrative in treatment. A veritable feast of ideas and constructive interventions."
Kenneth J. Gergen, PhD, Mustin Professor of Psychology, Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania
"Using Narrative Constructivism in Psychotherapy is a remarkable achievement. I believe it will help change the lives of anyone who reads it. The book is movingly autobiographical and, at the same time, offers a pathway for others to reflect on their own lives. Readers will return to particular chapters again and again as they come to understand their own stories even more."
Richard H. Price, PhD, research professor, Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan, Michigan
"Constructivist, narrative perspectives have an important role in a broad range of clinical traditions, and therapists from theoretical perspectives quite different from those of Meichenbaum or Hoyt may find their interventions and clinical approach to be at once both surprisingly compatible and stimulatingly different."
Paul L. Wachtel, PhD, distinguished professor, City College of CUNY, New York
"Donald Meichenbaum and Michael Hoyt are longtime friends and inventive therapists. Their methods are narrative in origin, and they thoughtfully consider the place of love and the human spirit in constructing the stories that allow and encourage change. Read these stories of imaginative therapy and you, as a therapist, will be guided; you, as a person involved in helping others heal, will be engaged and delighted."
