Full of youthful rebellion and little understanding, he runs away from his mother to experience the world. Contact with a mystical creature helps him to grow up and propels him to find the courage to follow a course of his own choosing. Despite the mother's attempts to keep her son close, he is lost to her. The pain from her loss pushes her to let go of her illusion of control and to find acceptance and serenity.
