Recenzii
This is the first definitive treatise on a silent, subterranean crisis: an urban 'underground inferno' where temperatures are rising at double the rate of the surface. With a rare combination of rigorous scientific data and captivating, narrative storytelling, Rotta Loria masterfully bridges the gap between ancient history and engineering, mapping out a visionary framework to capture this wasted heat, turning a hidden hazard into a cornerstone of clean, renewable energy for the future. Underground Climate Change is a masterclass in uncovering the unseen. While the world has spent decades looking up to understand climate change, Rotta Loria brilliantly compels us to look down. This is a monumental, eye-opening work.
Much of what will shape our future lies out of sight. Rotta Loria challenges our surface-bound perspective, revealing a hidden urban layer where history accumulates and future trajectories take form. With precision and imagination, he brings into focus forces that are pervasive yet unseen. A lucid, conceptually original work that compels us to look beneath the surface, and think ahead.
This book addresses one of the most urgent dimensions of the urban underground: its hidden warming. Through a fascinating exploration enriched by a scientific depth rarely found in a work so accessible, Alessandro Rotta Loria shows that underground urban heat is not simply a problem to be managed but a resource to be harnessed. There is something here for everyone, from the general public to peers in our own field. An important book for our time.
