Dacă în volumele anterioare lupta era pentru supraviețuirea ordinului, aici miza este însăși identitatea legii. Elementul distinctiv al acestui volum este introducerea barbarilor din Avares și a unui nou jucător politic misterios, care îi forțează pe Falcio, Kest și Brasti să navigheze într-un peisaj înghețat și ostil, unde măiestria lor cu sabia s-ar putea să nu fie suficientă.

Credem că ritmul narativ este unul alert, punctat de momente de introspecție în care Falcio trebuie să decidă dacă verdictul său final va respecta litera legii sau va asigura viitorul regatului. Este o experiență de lectură care onorează tradiția literaturii de aventură, oferind în același timp o complexitate politică modernă și un final care închide magistral arcul narativ început în Traitor's Blade.

If I could recommend one series from the last five years that I hold up as the most action-packed and emotionally-riveting, I would be hard-pressed to look past Sebastien de Castell's The Greatcoats Quartet.
Sebastien de Castell is a rare talent, one of the most gifted storytellers to emerge in recent years . . . Tyrant's Throne is the perfect ending to cap off this stellar quartet. The Greatcoats now sits in a place of honor on my bookshelf as one of my favorite fantasy series of all time.
An impossibly engaging piece of storytelling that demands you give everything of yourself . . . If this is the last we see of Falcio, Kest, Brasti, and the rest, then you couldn't ask for more than Tyrant's Throne. I hesitate to use the word 'perfect' but this is about as close as epic fantasy gets to that plateau.
Tyrant's Throne is the perfect send off for Falcio and the Greatcoats, offering a glimpse of what it means to be human.

This is a series that has brought much enjoyment and delivered a solid, forward narrative throughout four mighty tomes and will remain a favourite of the last several years and of those to come. It is already on the re-read list.

Descriere

After years of struggle and sacrifice, Falcio val Mond, First Cantor of the Greatcoats, is on the brink of fulfilling his dead king's dream: Aline, the king's daughter, is about to take the throne and restore the rule of law once and for all. But for the Greatcoats, nothing is ever that simple. In the neighboring country of Avares, an enigmatic new warlord is uniting the barbarian armies that have long plagued Tristia's borders--and even worse, he is rumored to have a new ally: Trin, who's twice tried to kill Aline to claim the throne of Tristia for herself. With the armies of Avares at her back, led by a bloodthirsty warrior, she'll be unstoppable. Falcio, Kest, and Brasti race north to stop her, but in those cold and treacherous climes they discover something altogether different, and far more dangerous: a new player is planning to take the throne of Tristia, and with a sense of dread the three friends realize that the Greatcoats, for all their skill, may not be able to stop him.
