Two Old Men and a Fish

Seventy-two-year-old Johnathon Pane is battling what may be the greatest fish he's ever hooked. His endurance is nearly at its end when his good friend Cork Lofton shows up. Together the two old friends finally land the monster salmon, unknowingly launching themselves into a tale that will soon be the talk of the small town of Hebo, Oregon.

When a young Department of Fish and Game employee named Beth encounters a massive salmon carcass during a dreary downpour, she fails to record it properly, much to the disdain of her superiors and-soon enough-the residents of Hebo. Facing humiliation and defeat in the first days of her young career, Beth soon crosses paths with two old fishermen who have become a local sensation.

Of course, any fishing tale is nothing without the fish, and at the center of this story is a salmon whose biological destiny leads it to its fateful encounter with a hook that will have a whole town buzzing.
